Pulsed Power: The Enabler for Radiation, Electrical and High Energy Density Science
Abstract
To establish the conditions for studying the effects of intense radiation and high energy density environments within materials and electrical components requires the remarkable capabilities inherent in pulsed power technology. At Sandia National Laboratories the Radiation, Electrical, and High Energy Density Science (REHEDS) Research Foundation is anchored in the science and technology that is enabled by Pulsed Power. An overview of the Foundation and the capabilities that have been and are continuing to be developed to help create these extreme environments and their application to Sandia’s core missions in nuclear deterrence and national security will be presented.
